VERONA: DAY 2 DRIVE TO THE LAGO DI GARDA

After our very quick self-guided walk through a rainy Verona we still had sometime to do more sight seeing.

When we first arrived in Lugagnano I noticed a large body of water on our map. This body of water just so happens to be a Lago Di Garda (Lake Garda). Since we had the car to our disposal we decided to take a nice little drive out to this lake. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the lake from our hotel and it was a nice change of pace from the big cities we had been to prior to our stay near Verona.

This lake was dotted with camp sites for tents and RV's, there were small boutique hotels along the lake, and to top it off there was even a water park called Movieland for kids. I am not sure why you would want to build a water park near such a large body of water but hey that's just my opinion...

We were both quite surprised by how many Germans we saw at this lake, either walking, shopping, riding their bikes or just camping. The only sense it made to me was that the German and Italian border is so close so they come down to a slightly warmer cimate to vacation.

Below are some photos of the lake and some from our stroll along the path the follows the lake. Apparently the other side of the lake is called the Riviera and all the high end tourists go there. Personally I thought the side we were on was quite nice.
