ARTIST YUKI KITAZUMI

I have just realized today that it has been quite some time since I put up a post about artists I like and artists I have recently discovered.

I came across this lovely japanese illustrator from one of my favorite blogs Creature Comforts. Yuki was born in Osaka, Japan in 1959. She currently lives in Tokyo. For art school she attended "Setsu Mode Seminner"
And now, is a a student of " MJ Illustration School". Her artwork is very simplistic, yet stylized with many works from observations she makes from life in Japan. As well as movies and icons that she is inspired by.

To see more of her work you can visit her japanese blog here, or her flick account here.

These are a few of my favorites.

Artist Anna Emilia

I love the simplistic colors and the fine details. Makes me think of my childhood in Russia and far away places just like in Fairy tales.

Anna Emilia was born 1983 in Leppävirta, a small town in Finland with strawberry fields, lakes and pine forests. In 2004 Anna moved to a tiny town of Dalvík in Iceland. She worked in a kindergarten class painting and drawing with the children. She then went back to Finland to continue her studies in graphic design focusing on illustration while spending her summers in Reykjavík, Iceland. Now she lives in Finland, still marveling at all the trees growing there. The weather gives the color to her paintings. When she paints Anna thinks of all the faraway places the wind reaches and hopes to hear from them. Anna enjoys finding connections between nature and the ones living in it, collecting them as memories on a soft cotton paper.

Check out more of her work on her website and you can purchase some of it here too.

We actually had a Potato Hole growing up and I always dreaded having to climb down in there when the level of potatoes got too low. It was dark and eerie.

Artist Robert Nichols

Today I wanted to share some of the amazing art work my fiancée has done. It has taken him several years to perfect his technique and concept with the end result being one of refined reinjection of the individualistic and hand made. I believe that his work speaks for itself and I do not need to say much more than that.

Here is a link to his website and works.

Imaginative Illustrator

I came across these adorable illustrations today by Emily Finan. She is an artist and illustrator based out of Detroit, Michigan. She is studying studio art and K-12 art education currently. These images remind me of my brief childhood years growing up in Russia. From the big bows to the innocent girlish looks in their eyes and of course the adorable vintage baby carriage. I actually had one like that in navy blue so I could take my dolls for strolls up and down our street. You can purchase her work on her Etsy site here and check out her website for more information here.
