Artist Anna Emilia

I love the simplistic colors and the fine details. Makes me think of my childhood in Russia and far away places just like in Fairy tales.

Anna Emilia was born 1983 in Leppävirta, a small town in Finland with strawberry fields, lakes and pine forests. In 2004 Anna moved to a tiny town of Dalvík in Iceland. She worked in a kindergarten class painting and drawing with the children. She then went back to Finland to continue her studies in graphic design focusing on illustration while spending her summers in Reykjavík, Iceland. Now she lives in Finland, still marveling at all the trees growing there. The weather gives the color to her paintings. When she paints Anna thinks of all the faraway places the wind reaches and hopes to hear from them. Anna enjoys finding connections between nature and the ones living in it, collecting them as memories on a soft cotton paper.

Check out more of her work on her website and you can purchase some of it here too.

We actually had a Potato Hole growing up and I always dreaded having to climb down in there when the level of potatoes got too low. It was dark and eerie.
